Overview

The Governmental Affairs Department is responsible for establishing a liaison between MASA and the Legislative and Executive branches of state government in order to express medicine's point of view on proposed legislation and regulations. The department assumes direct responsibility for maintaining contact with the Alabama Congressional Delegation, and works in concert with the American Medical Association's Washington office to monitor national political developments. An annual MASA Washington visit, coordinated by the Governmental Affairs Department, provides Alabama physicians an outstanding opportunity to meet directly with their Congressional Delegation for frank discussion of issues which impact medicine.
