  Employment Contract Review  

Contract negotiation is critical to a successful physician-employer relationship. But often physicians don't know their obligations and underestimate their negotiating power. MASA has identified three law firms to offer our members a 15 percent discount, a substantial savings, on expert review of employment contracts in healthcare settings. Through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, MASA provides members access to a comprehensive Blue Card PPO health insurance plan at competitve group rates that otherwise would not be available to the solo practitioner.  A High Deductible Health Savings Account (HSA) Qualified Plan option in included.  MASA also endorses a Blue Cross Medical Assistants Plan for office staff.

Professional Liability Coverage 
ProAssurance of Birmingham, a company formed by MASA during the insurance crisis of the mid-1970s, offers an independent program of liability insurance coverage. ProAssurance is the largest writer of liability insurance in Alabama and also offers related coverage, such as provider excess, managed care liability, office/premises liability and workers’ compensation. Through the ProAssurance Agency, MASA members may pur­chase life, disability and personal lines of insurance at special prices.


Medical Practice Resource Group Insurance

The Medical Practice Resource Group (MPRG)  provides an array of professional employee benefit products (including health insurance and disability insurance) utilizing various carriers and providers for your practice. These carriers and providers are selected based on their financial stability ans service capabilities to provide the best benefit options for MASA member practices.

Physician Placement Register
Physician Placement Register is maintained by MASA for the use of members interested in locating in Alabama or for attracting physicians to a practice or hospital. Offered at no charge to MASA members, physicians may submit an ad to be published in MASA’s bi-weekly newsletter, the Alabama MD. Hospitals, government agencies, health maintenance organizations, and others use the Physician Placement Register as a source of filling positions in Alabama and elsewhere.
